TO SCULPT A PRESIDENT
The unprecedented resignation of US President Richard M. Nixon not only left people all over the world shocked but it also left owners of wax museums everywhere scrambling for a figure of newly sworn in Commander-in-Chief, Gerald Ford.
Only six days after his assuming office the management team at Niagara's once legendary Louis Tussaud's English Wax Museum made their move.
Here were have both the original letter from Louis Tussaud's Assistant Manager and the (surprisingly prompt) response from the White House.
(A cover of TIME Magazine used by artists to create the figure of President Ford)
(The figure, recently repaired and refinished by expert wax preservationist, Tom Fowler)
( These original letters very easily could have been destroyed or disposed of but fortunately can now be found, along with thousands of others, within the 'STUBERGH-KELLER WAX STUDIO NIAGARA FALLS COLLECTION' of the ever growing 'WAXIPEDIA ARCHIVES'.
Dedicated to preserving the history of Wax Arts, and the unique stories of all those involved in it's development, WAXIPEDIA strives to become the ultimate source of information on the subject of wax museums. Anyone interested in donating items for preservation are invited to contact me at timothywrandall@gmail.com. Donated items will be cataloged, digitally scanned, photographed, and restored. All donated items will be credited to their specific donors, will be preserved and made available to future generations of artists, designers, historians and fans).
**The actual figure of Gerald Ford could have easily been relegated, like so many others, to a dumpster, but gladly lives on within a Private Collection**
