THE BEATLES Backstage at Tivoli Gardens

In the beautiful city of København (Copenhagen, Denmark), within the Hans Christian Anderson Building at Tivoli Gardens (the amusement park that inspired a man name Walt to create a place called Disneyland), there once was a great Wax Museum dedicated to the memory of English artist and entrepreneur,  Louis Tussaud.

At one point, there were five incarnations of this international chain of wax museum (Niagara Falls, Atlantic City, Dallas/Fort Worth, San Antonio, and Thailand) but today we focus on one, and in particular a single exhibit as shown in this picture!

Here, we find The Beatles as the "FAB FOUR" relax for a moment before, what we can assume is an imaginary gig on Tivoli's infamous stage.

Created by Spanish Artist Jose Ballester - George, Paul, John & Ringo would eventually be sloppily dressed in costumes vaguely recalling their SgtPepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band cover. After the museum closed in 2005, all four of the figures were sent to inhabit the NEW 'Louis Tussauds Waxworks' in Bangalore, India - a museum compromised entirely with OLD figures from Copenhagen.

As a more recent note, the business partnership between Innovative Film City (where Louis Tussaud's Waxworks India was located) and it's parent company Ripley's Entertainment went sour and the partnership was dissolved. But that didn't mean the wax figures came back to the United States. They remained there on public display, in limbo, for years as attempts were made to reprocure them and sadly, if news reports are to be believed, the wax museum, and thus these wonderful and unique wax figures of The Beatles, were destroyed in a 3am fire on February 22, 2018.

Dedicated to preserving the history of Wax Arts, and the unique stories of all those involved in its development, WAXIPEDIA strives to be the number one source of information on the subject of Wax Museums and their role in the attractions and entertainment industries. Through the sharing of photographs, brochures, movies and stories we hope to enlighten, engage and entertain all who discover us.

As a resource, the WAXIPEDIA ARCHIVES was established in 2014 as a repository for physical examples and information pertaining to these educational goals. Consisting of thousands of items (ranging from century-and-a-half year old guidebooks to life-sized wax figures) the ARCHIVES are the backbone of WAXIPEDIA's mission and we hope to inspire future generations of artists, designers, historians and fans.
